Snow Fun…Finally!

It is hard to believe that it will be February this week and it is the first time the girls have been able to go sledding in our yard this year! B and the girls took advantage of the nice weather today and spent almost two hours in the backyard sledding. They had a blast and I am happy to report that no one ran into a tree (well at least too hard)!  DSC_0147

Meanwhile, James and I spent some time together going through all his toys in the family room.  Time to get rid of all his “baby” toys! We of course also took time for a snack (good ol’ fig newtons) so I took advantage of him sitting still to grab a few photos.  (That of course does not happen very often.)

Overall we had a very nice weekend.  We all went to a birthday party for the girls’ friend on Saturday at Pump It Up.  Even James had a blast running around the place and LOVED going down the big slide.  He would get to the top with Brian and said “Go!” the entire way down while laughing.  Apparently he takes after his thrill seeking sisters. I was able to organize the girls’ playroom and it only took me like 4 hours! One project done and now another 20 to go.  Oh and I can’t forget to mention we watched Scream 4.  I told Brian he is never allowed to prank phone call me ever or else he will be sleeping in the garage. If you haven’t seen it, I actually recommend it.  I never would have guessed the ending!  All in all…a fun but too short weekend.

Impromptu Picnic

Over the past few nights the girls have been getting along really well and playing very nicely together.  Tonight after dinner Katelin decided she wanted to create a picnic for her and Annie.  She found some flowers and a “vase”, got food from the pantry and surprised Annie with a fun little picnic.  When Annie saw it she said, “Oh Kate, it is so pretty! I can’t believe we are having a real picnic!”  It was pretty sweet.

15 months!

It is hard to believe that “little man” is already 15 months old!  Time is flying by and he is changing each day. He has started transitioning into the toddler room at daycare and soon will be an official “Busy Bee”!  It is hard to imagine him taking his naps on a little cot rather than in a crib. This week he even played outside in the snow with the toddlers.  He did good but apparently when it was time to come in they couldn’t get his snow gear off fast enough for him!

Some of his new words include: “Done” and he hands us his plate, “Go” when he wants us to do things like jump with him, and “Hot” ALL the time before he tries any food on his plate. He has also started running (lord help us!), loves to help clean with any vacuum or mop/broom, manages to find any little piece of fuzz or small particle on the floor and hands it to us saying “there”, and is enjoying taking baths in the big tub with both Katelin and Annie.

I must say the one thing I am not excited about are his recent tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. If we say no or take something away from him that he shouldn’t have he screams/cries very loudly, runs to the closest furniture and throws his head down and cries or throws his body on the ground and starts to kick.  At daycare he apparently runs in a corner and cries. It only lasts about 15 seconds and is actually pretty funny but over the past few days it seems to be happening more frequently so I am not laughing anymore! Here are a few photos from the other night.

Tonight I was wondering what Annie and Katelin looked like when they were James’ age so I looked up a few pics and thought I would share them.  As you can see, James takes after Annie in the baldness and cheesy grin department!  So fun to look back and think of the memories. Before I know it, I will be writing about his 2 yr. birthday!

Girly Girls

As I was getting James in his jammies the other night, Kate came over and pronounced, “It’s make-up time!” and then Annie came over and said: “Yep, It’s make-up time Momma!”.  They proceeded to enter their bathroom and close the door.  10 minutes later after hearing many giggles I decided I better check out what they were up to.  They found their Disney princess make-up and well, let’s just let the picture do the talking!

The other day I took the girls to Justice to use gift cards they got from Grandma Shirley for Christmas.  Katelin found the fake nails she had been talking about for weeks. In looking at them, I did not realize how long they actually were so I agreed she could get them and wear them at home only.  As we were putting them on, we realized her fingernails are much smaller than we thought!

I am pretty certain that I have many years to come of my girls loving to do girly things like shop, get dressed up in “sparkly, glittery, and twirly” clothes, put on make-up, act like models, sing, dance and have fun.  I must say…I love it!

December Whirlwind!

Oh Oh Oh....or is it Ho Ho Ho....let's go with Oh Oh Oh it's been a long time since we posted to the blog! Talk about a busy month! So what to do? Do we post a Super Post and just include everything that's happened in montage form? Or do we post individual posts to each highlight? Hmmmm. Not sure yet so I guess you'll just have to keep reading to see what we decide! We will start by saying that the past month has been a whirlwind of preparing for the Christmas holiday by shopping, shopping, and shopping followed by wrapping, wrapping, and more wrapping followed by party after party after party and days at home enjoying time together! Fun! Toss in a long drive to Michigan to see the other half of our family (It was a great trip! We miss them already!) and a long drive back for a really fun New Years Eve party and you have a blur for most of December. Check out some of the fun below. Lastly, we hope your 2012 is blessed with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Happy New Year!
