Working at the Car Wash

Well the kids didn’t actually get paid for helping Brian clean the cars but they did have fun! It was a gorgeous day out and the cars (sadly) hadn’t been washed all summer so Bri decided to tackle this project with the little ones.  I had to bite my tongue a number of times when I kept looking at the clock thinking how can it take 3 hours to wash two cars, wait make that 5 hours, oh…wait, make that 7 hours!  Yep, 7 hours to wash the cars!!!  Good thing the kids weren’t making hourly pay!  I’m gonna chalk it up to good Daddy bonding time!

Silly Sisters

They say a picture’s worth a thousand words.  Well, there’s not much more for me to say other than I love my silly little ladies!

Dinner time fun

The other day at dinner we looked over and there was James sitting with his hands above his head…just like Daddy! It was pretty hilarious as he kept imitating things that Brian was doing. We of course needed to capture this moment with a picture.

We also discovered that James knows how to do “thumbs up”.  He had quite a blast doing this over and over and over!

Neighborhood Night Out

It had been five years since our neighborhood participated in NNO so my friend and I decided it was time to do something about that and coordinated a gathering for our neighborhood.  The night was a success.  We had a pretty good turnout of neighbors (although we hope for more next year!), we got a visit from a Burnsville police officer, and all the kids had a blast running around and playing with each other.  James was truly in heaven too being outside for three hours straight running around, eating ice cream and Cheetos and acting like one of the big kids.  We are so happy that we have developed some good friendships with our neighbors and that the kids have friends to play with in the hood.   I hope we make this an annual event as it truly was a great way to connect with our neighbors and friends.  Here are some of my favorite pictures of the night.

Fire Picnic Fun

Today was the annual Wayzata Fire Department family picnic. It was a beautiful day filled with fun festivities for all.  All the kids enjoyed the opportunity to sit in the trucks.

Katelin had a blast going on the water slide.  We thought she was a little crazy because the water was ice cold and the air was somewhat chilly but it didn’t stop her!

Annie’s favorite part was the ride on top of the fire truck.  Last year she had to go with the adult women but this year she ran to the truck and climbed right up as soon as they said it was the kids’ ride.  I love this part of the picnic too.  The women get to go for a ride and Scott drives the truck around some incredible neighborhoods in Wayzata. I like to look at the huge houses and day dream about living in one of them! I brought James with me on the ride and he sat completely still and didn’t say a peep the entire time!

James had so much fun running around at the picnic too.  His favorite part was running near the water bouncies and get wet from the overspray.  Considering his favorite thing to do is be outside, this day was right up his alley! He also LOVED going over to the dalmation statue and giving it hugs and kisses and barking at it!

Oh and of course I can’t forget to mention how everyone, especially Annie, loved the “make your own” snow cone machine! I think she had three!

Brian’s favorite part of the day was the food!  Every year they have amazing food and this year was no exception.  BBQ brisket and chicken, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, hot dogs, sausages, and coleslaw. YUM!!!  I already can’t wait for next year!

Como Zoo

It’s hard to believe that it is already August and we have only been to Como Zoo once this year! It was an impromptu visit and unfortunately when we got there we realized the zoo was only open for 30 minutes! We did get a chance to see my favorite BIG Cats! It was so fun to watch James’ expression and hear his comments whenever he saw an animal. I can’t wait to take him to the zoo when we can stay longer and see more animals.
The girls would say we lucked out and Como Town was open for a few hours so they did get to go on some rides.  James had fun too and loved the driving the cars! Here are some of my favorite pics from the day.
